How does your garden grow?

This is my first year growing a garden, kind of a trial and error. So far my corn is coming up, my tomatoes are doing well, and well as for the carrots, a few of them came up anyway.

My newest project that I want to pick up for next summer is canning fruit. I've never done it but I think that I would like to try it. I already priced a canner * totally not expensive* they make a "canning for dummies book* and get my jars and I'm ready to go. Since its too late this summer it will be my project for next summer. Although I am ready to get started now, cant do much about that now.
I planted some poppies this year in an experimental spot and a few of them seem to me coming up.

Not exactly the color we were shooting for!

So Chris finally let me paint something in the house. My project...the upstairs bathroom. I really had no idea what color to go for, and no real leads. So I picked up a book at Lowes and said how about this one. The label says "aloe vera" but when I look at it I say "minty green." Since I'm tired from painting we are gonna just have to stick with this color for a while. So off shopping we go to find some accent colors to go with it, maybe after all we can pull it together.*hopefully*

Here is before I decided to paint:

And after the painting project:

I will post some more pictures when we have our little bathroom project completely finished.

Dragon Boat Festival

This year was our first year attending the Dragon Boat Festival at Sloans Lake. It was fun and a good time to go since Ludy was still in Town. Here are a few pics from our day at the Festival.

They had all sorts of different Asian dances to sit and watch, these guys were pretty interesting.

Then Logan and Ludy went to go and get their faces painted.

Ludy got the Chinese
Symbol that was suppose to mean "princess" and Logan got well we really don't know what Logan got. He asked for a cheetah and ended up looking like this. He wasn't all that excited about it when he looked in the mirror.

Of course we had to see the Dragon Boat races them selves. My work actually sponsored one of the boats. We were trying to figure out how to become one of the boat people, but by the end it just looks like so much work to do the paddling, I think that I will just watch from the side.

Believe it or not we waited about 1 hour in line for this little Chinese dragon balloon. There was one man and he was making all the balloons for the kids.

It was fun Ludy & Andrew, come again!!!!

Estes Park

Chris' sister Ludy is here visiting for a few days. Today was the day we went to Estes Park. It was a nice day! Sunday afternoon we will go to the Dragon Boat Races, so we have a busy weekend planned. Here are some of our pictures from the day.

On the way we ran into these very tame I guess chipmunks. So Andrew and Logan tried feeding them to make them come even closer. When they realized Logan was giving them and old used up peanut shell they weren't so interested.

Then on the way home we had to make a quick stop at Jellystone....thinking it maybe a spot we want to hit for a weekend away. From what we saw they had cabins and camping there, we merely were there for yogi bear.

I'll have more on Sunday afternoon after the Dragon Boat Races!!!
